Fischer's Lovebird genetic calculator

The calculator covers 27 mutations of the Fischer's Lovebird: Aqua, Blue, Blue 2, Bronze Fallow, Cinnamon, Dark Factor, Dark-Eyed Clear, Dilute, Dominant Pied, Dominant Reduced, Dun Fallow, Edged (Spangle), Euwing, Faded, Lutino, Misty, Opaline, Orange Face, Pale, Pale Fallow, Pallid, Pastel, Recessive Pied, Sex-Linked Dominant Greywing, Slaty, Turquoise, Violet.

In birds, the male has two Z sex chromosomes and the female only one. Sex-linked mutations therefore show differently in sons and daughters: a hen shows a sex-linked mutation as soon as she carries it, a cock can carry it without showing it ("split").

A bird "split" for a mutation carries it without showing it, and can pass it on to its chicks. For dominant mutations, SF (single factor) means the bird carries one copy and DF (double factor) two copies.

They are probabilities: over many chicks the proportions get close to them, but each clutch is a matter of chance. The result is only as reliable as what you tick, so check the genotype of your birds (splits in particular) with their pedigree.
